If protesters can march, why can’t businesses open?
New York Post ^ | June 2, 2020 | Karol Markowicz

Remember COVID-19? Owners of small businesses that have yet to open but are in danger of being smashed by rioters sure do.

As Mayor Bill de Blasio and Gov. Andrew Cuomo take turns making vague comments about the continued destruction, many small-business owners caught in limbo are asking: Why are crowds OK for protest but not anything else? Our fearful leaders have no answer.

New York City is still a full five days away from entering Phase 1. This will open up only some industries, like construction and manufacturing and retail on a pickup basis only.

Many business owners are wondering if they’ll have a business left to open when their turn finally comes.

Few business owners I spoke to would let me use their name or the name of their business. Several told me they’re afraid of retaliation by a government that has full control of their fate. They feel that criticizing any part of the reopen plan can have them targeted for shutdown when they do get to open.

An owner of a chain of pre-schools that regularly provide services to over 500 families across the city told me how impossible it’s been to get a clear answer from the state about the future of his business.

“We have waited weeks to hear from state and local officials and no one can provide clear guidance. We’ve had teams that have been put in place to assess the situation from Day 1, and the fact that there is little to no solid information presented to small businesses so we may begin to transform to the new norm is disheartening, to say the least.”

Are there any businesses left intact to open?

Because opening stores doesn’t fit the political agenda. Everything has to lead to economic destruction to cause the electorate to vote the way the subversives want them to vote. Is that the right answer, teacher?

That is the goal of the rioters. Destroy Small Business which are hardest to control.

The Democrat Party is doing all it can to undermine America.

Seriously. The phony “impeachment”, the shamdemic lockdowns, and now their looters and arsonists. All directed towards a single goal.

They are deadly serious about taking the USA apart so they can cobble together a one-party political system with command and control economy.

The gloves are off and they are playing to win.

Well said. Never let the truth get in the way of the agenda.

My ongoing question about all of this, is if public gatherings of more than a small number of people are banned, why are these protests, even peaceful protests of thousands of people allowed?

I have not heard anyone in the media address this specific point

Cuomo, DeBlasio, Murphy, and other blue state governors and mayors have obviously sided with the rioters.

Several reasons:

  1. They think this will reverse gains PDJT has made with African-American voters.
  2. They think it will further stretch out the CCP-virus recession.
  3. They think they can shift blame for the damage onto PDJT
  4. They think they can shift blame for George Floyd murder onto PDJT.
  5. They don't have to take strong action against the rioters, which may lead to mistakes in judgment or tactics, which they are inept at anyway.
  6. Perhaps most importantly, they see no downside for themselves in pursuing this strategy.

Some pigs are more equal than others.

Protesters are royalty, they need not follow the rules of the commoners.

They want to destroy the free-enterprise system and implement Communism, plain and simple. They also want to emulate the crime-control policies in Caracas, a huge success of Bolivarian socialism. Looting and burning stores accomplish all of the foregoing objectives. And enough Americans support the anarcho-Communist insurgency that they just might win the next election and oust Donald Trump.

Regardless, we should brace for a violent winter of depredation. If Trump wins, however, then he might get the opportunity to name a Supreme Court justice or perhaps even two or three, who in time might read the Constitution to discover a right to life, even for unborn babies. The party and culture of death already rue that future day.

The supply chain is very tenuous right now. Can’t reopen if you don’t have any goods.

All POTUS has to tweet or even say is “Look at this party wants you to vote for them and put them in the Whitehouse and they can’t even control their own cities”

Business people tend to be law-abiding, and even if they were not inclined to obey authority, they have something to lose.

Small businesses can be opened by rioters and by looters, but not by their owners. After all, their owners "didn't build that".

I think you can open your business if you dress in black from head to foot, including your mask, of course.
