The people at the bank who expect prompt payments on your 30-year mortgage don’t give deferments while you work on self-actualization. The finance department at your kids’ colleges don’t accept reports of your progress towards self-actualization as payment for their college enrollment or dorm and meal plan fees. It is what it is. I think most of these people change their ideological stripes to fit in, just to stay sane.

The fact is that the ideological changes that have taken place in the past several decades are head-spinning. I thought political correctness was bad in the 80’s. I’d give a lot to get back to 80’s-era political correctness today.
