How Sacramento police left city unguarded over two chaotic nights of vandalism, mayhem ( me: blame cops not thugs? )

At 10:35 p.m. Sunday, around two dozen Sacramento police officers in body armor and helmets stood near 15th and J street, awaiting orders. A half-mile away, a group of protesters was dispersing after a two-hour showdown at the Capitol that included officers shooting tear gas and rubber bullets into the crowd.

For a moment, the feeling seemed to be one of ease.

But then the officers on 15th Street departed without explanation, exposing a swath of midtown to small groups of vandals who roamed the streets, leaving a path of shattered windows, spilled booze and anxiety in their wake.

Kendrick Fields, a sous chef at Aioli restaurant at 18th and L streets, said he found himself facing off against dozens of looters Sunday night with a Louisville Slugger baseball bat after calls to 911 proved fruitless. Fields, who lives next door to the restaurant, heard the group of roughly 25 looters approaching and yelled at them from his upstairs window.

“I said, ‘Hey, you guys get away from there, they don’t deserve you guys messing with them,’ because I knew they were going to loot,” Fields said. “When I said that, about three of them said, ‘Screw you, mind your own business or we’re going to burn your house down.’ “

Found a supplier who has Tokarev ammo in stock.

Got plenty of .38 Special for the snubby.

Got plenty of last-resort 22LR for the Winchester.

Thinking about getting some .32ACP for the Walther Model 4 war souvenir.

That’s right. You can’t blame the cops. They weren’t even there. /sarc

But then the officers on 15th Street departed without explanation, ...

They didn't stop and put the new cover sheets on their TPS reports before leaving?

People really need to understand that the purpose of police is not to protect the citizens. It's main purpose is to protect the State, raise revenue and to keep the populace in line. When the crap really hits the fan, the police are not there. If you want protection, provision yourself and learn how to protect yourself and those you love.

Damn right.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans police were disarming law abiding citizens while the looters were tearing up the city.

I will always remember that.

Police are being murdered by thugs, arrested for fighting with protesters, and ordered by authorities to withdraw. Give the rank and file cop a break, please. If the mayor of Sacramento was ordering the cops to stop looters, I guarantee you they would gladly do it.

Yep. It’s always bubbling under the surface here.

We have a criminal enterprise we commonly call the MSM.

WE suspect everything they say, but boy when it comes to the
police some folks gobble up every word, and think they know
everything if they get a partial clip of things that took
place.

Those videos have been sanitized by the press for impact.

Some folks just haven’t got the mental faculties to grasp
that.

We get the harsh response of the police, but never the
frank reality of why that harsh response took place.

If we do get the background video it may remain public
for a few hours, and then it’s gone. Only the harsh
response will be played over and over for days/weeks/
months/years.

Mentioning what you own is making a list for the
authorities. What sounds like a few weapons to you
will be described as an arsenal with hundreds or
thousands of rounds of ammunition when it hits
the press.

I urge folks not to mention their weapons.

A few hundred rounds is a piddling amount for a Zony.

My primary instinct is to run away from dangerous assaults, but if I’m ever cornered, I’m going down in a blaze of glory.

That’s pretty much my take on it too.

I’m not looking to be confrontational, but if I have to I’ll
put up a decent fight.

You're seriously hopeless.

If someone breaks into your house, or car or whatever it is you live in and steals all your stuff....Oh never mind.

When the crap really hits the fan, the police are not there

And we've all seen this now, over and over.

Looking back at the last 30, watching these law enforcement agencies ramp up into para-military style units, using military tactics, uniforms and vehicles, I have to wonder, what was that all for? All that crap cost the tax payers many billions.

But when the shit hits the fan, you're on your own.

You better believe it.

But have no doubt if someone defended their property and hurt a rioter, the police would be there in minutes to arrest that someone.

The police are your enemy during times like this.

I'm sorry. I owe you an apology.

I totally misread your parenthetical comment.

Once again I apologize.
