Is there any gov’t entity that isn’t? During WWII, tung nut oil had a subsidy put on it because it could be used instead of petroleum in paint. Then, Hurricane Camille went through the South in the late 1960’s and 5 farmers went to Washington to see if the gov’t would replace their tung nut trees. After some searching, they found out that just over $30,000 was still being paid out in subsidies to about 10 farmers, but they were spending over $1.5 million to run the subsidy. Pretty typical, I’d say.
