MINNEAPOLIS (AP) The two men stepped from the shadows as the car turned off an upscale shopping street into a residential area located on the far edge of the rioting that swept through Minneapolis. It was after midnight. A pair of metal dividers blocked the road, and the men stepped to either side of the car as it stopped. Both carried assault rifles.
Do you live here? one of the men asked, politely, but forcefully. His hands rested casually on the rifle slung across his chest, and a pistol was strapped to his belt.
We have lots of old people here, he continued, satisfied that the driver, an AP reporter, posed no danger. We dont want anyone to get hurt.
A week of civil unrest has led some Minneapolis residents near the epicenter of the violence to take steps to protect their homes and neighborhoods. Theyve stocked up on fire extinguishers and buckets, and formed scores of loose neighborhood watch groups aided by a cluster of apps and social media to share what they view as suspicious activity.

Looks like a neighborhood militia has formed.
Meanwhile, 1,300 miles to the west in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, HUNDREDS of well-armed militia were patrolling the streets last Sunday night after rumors of communists arriving from Spokane went out. Every block had five to twenty armed people on it.
If you want government to pay attention to protecting citizens all you have to do is tell them that they will either protect neighborhoods or the neighborhood will form a vigilante committee. Politicians really don’t like that.
Interesting comments buried in here near the end. People voicing the verboten truth that they believe that, in face of valid threats, “the police and fire fighters are not coming ( because unable ) to help us.”
True or not, or in small or large degree, this primal fear, to which many not admit out loud, is a flashing red light for those that wish to overlook it, or that persist in minimizing the fear and that prefer to characterize people against a zero-sum matrix:
“You shut up about the looters. If you do not, then you are against the protests and against improving racial equity of opportunity and fair treatment for all.”
The other flashing red light is the firearms and ammo sales. It means people are frightened.
Those are many, not named here, who think engendering and amplifying this fear is acceptable even desirable.
This will not end well, no matter how it ends.
Poor choice. #1 the AssPress hates you and would love nothing more than to film your neighborhood burning. #2 Any footage they show could detail your defenses in-depth.
It sure doesn't help to have my police chief marching with the protestors and my mayor calling that same police force murderers.
In the meantime the downtown stores and restaurants that somehow survived the lockdown dictatorship and reopened are deserted. No one will go downtown when it's like this.
“...said Omar Wasow, an assistant professor of politics at Princeton University who writes about race and the politics of protest movements. You take that and you layer it on the long, deep-rooted racist mythology that says, I should be scared and black people are a threat, and you get a kind of circle-the-wagons behavior.
Yeah, Omar, that’s exactly what it is. Has nothing to do with those little pasty white Antifa boys throwing bricks and firebombs.
How bout NO!
To letting ANTIFA advance scouts in your community
Isn't that normal for Idaho?
Yes, over half the populace is armed, but you normally wouldn’t know it walking down the street. There isn’t that much open carry. Now, it is out in plain sight during this insurrection.
The first time I took my wife someplace where most people were heavily armed, she expressed concern on the way there. Once we arrived, she smiled and said we were obviously in one of the safest places in the country. I married well.
I am surprised how well my wife handled it. She hates the fact that I own a few air rifles and always is after me to get rid of them.
My wife went from wondering why I wanted guns to completely pro-gun after a couple of ugly situations.
You know, I had a thought about that.
Idaho and other free states have citizen patrols.
How do people think suggesting going back to law enforcement would fly after all of this mayhem?
If this is done correctly, we might just end up with an America thats closer to constitutional Originalist than she has been in centuries.
What can I say?
Im an optimist.
My son takes a new girl friend out shooting on one of the first dates. Many have said the “don’t like guns”. Of course they have never been around them.
So far they all have enjoyed shooting and have changed their minds about guns.
Heck - even the air guns in the basement with your wife can be fun and teach the basic safe handling.
My wife has wanted to get a pistol for a year now. Has her concealed carry, but never got around to shooting the rentals enough to figure out what she wants.
This weekend we have a date for shooting and she has to decide! She has it narrowed down to a little .380 of some sort. I have 600 rounds of practice ammo and 300 rounds of defense ammo coming in the mail already. And several pistols picked out online that can be shipped.
If there’s ever a time to reach out to our fellow God-fearing Americans, it is now!
We still have access via the AM radio band. The likes of Limbaugh, Levin, Savage, Hannity must emphasize our mutual regard for the Constitution that centers on Life, Liberty, & Justice for All.
The destructive Marxist agenda must be exposed.
Good Words,

Involved with
Their own security.
I like it.
