FAITH OR FEAR?
For whatever does not originate and proceed from faith is sin [whatever is done without a conviction of its approval by God is sinful]. Romans 14:23 Is it possible to allow someone to control and manipulate us, honestly saying we are doing so in faith? Of course not! We know this type of behavior is rooted in fear, not faith. Faith obeys God, but fear is easily intimidated and finds many excuses for disobedience. A person who is a perfectionist, a workaholic, or involved in sexual perversion is just as dependent as someone who is addicted to a chemical substance like tobacco, alcohol, or drugs. If we try to meet the needs of that person at the expense of our own needs, we are co-dependent upon that individual. It is good to help people who have been hurt; but when their emotional needs begin to control us, we are in danger of being led by them and their problems instead of being led by the Holy Spirit of God. Faith causes us to step out and say or do what God places in our hearts, but fear causes us to timidly stay under control and domination. How many times have we heard manipulative people say things like, "I'm old, and you don't care anything about me now," or "I raised you all of your life. I sacrificed to house and clothe you and put you through school, and now you want to just leave me here all alone"? There is a balance to be maintained in such situations. That balance is the Holy Spirit within us to guide us into the truth of each situation. He will provide us the wisdom to know when we are to be adaptable and adjustable and when we are to take a firm stand and be immovable. Always keep in mind that faith obeys God, fear is easily moved by unbridled emotion! From the book New Day, New You: 365 Devotions for Enjoying Everyday Life by Joyce Meyer. Good evening, ML...((HUGS))...and a Blessed Lord’s Day and Shavua Tov to you and yours.
Did you have beautiful weather to bring Blue home?
The news said we might have some thunder and lightning later. I hope so....thunder is rare, and lightning even more so here in town.

Argh! It rained, and I couldn’t get a ride to the shop, and Blue will have to come home Monday instead.
Then we had massive thunder storms for the late afternoon, and now it’s hot and humid.
It’s OK, as tomorrow is supposed to be rainy too so Blue can spend the weekend in a nice dry shop.
Meanwhile, Penny doesn’t like the thunder at all, Poor Dear.

Dear God: I ask that no Airman, Coast Guardsman, Marine, Sailor, Soldier, Reservist, National Guardsman, or Merchant Marine feel alone or forgotten.
O Israel, hope in the Lord; For with the Lord there is loving kindness, And with Him is abundant redemption. And He will redeem Israel From all his iniquities.
Psalm 130:7 & 8

June 7In Need of Rescue
A Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him.
Luke 10:33A teenager named Aldi was working alone on a fishing hut anchored about 125 kilometers (about 78 miles) off Indonesias Sulawesi Island when heavy winds knocked the hut off its mooring and sent it out to sea. For forty-nine days, Aldi drifted in the ocean. Every time he spotted a ship, he turned on his lamp to try and get the sailors attention, only to be disappointed. About ten ships passed the malnourished teen before he was rescued.
Jesus told a parable to an expert in the law (Luke 10:25) about someone who needed to be rescued. Two mena priest and a Levitesaw an injured man as they were traveling. But rather than help him, both passed by on the other side (vv. 3132). We arent told why. Both were religious men and would have been familiar with Gods law to love their neighbor (Leviticus 19:1718). They may have thought it was too dangerous. Or perhaps they didnt want to break Jewish laws about touching dead bodies, making them ceremonially unclean and unable to serve in the temple. In contrast, a Samaritanwho was despised by the Jewsacted nobly. He saw the man in need and selflessly took care of him.
Jesus wrapped up His teaching with the command that His followers should go and do likewise (Luke 10:37). May God give us the willingness to risk reaching out in love to help others.

Reflect & Pray
Who has Jesus put in your path that needs your help? How can you put your love into action today?
God, open my eyes to the needs around me and give me Your heart of compassion for others.

In the last half hour I’ve been hearing a few thunder claps towards the mountains and a couple a little closer. And we’ve had a couple multi minute rain showers. Lots of rain would be nice.
Glad Blue is nice and dry. Poor Penny. Are you able to comfort her?
My Dad’s last two dogs were terrified of thunder, which thankfully is rare here, but they were terrified of fireworks as well. They would crawl under the desk of anyone at a desk.
