I don’t think he’s made into a hero. He was a man who was killed in public by a policeman when he did nothing deserving of that level of brutality. This is not what American cops in general do - this is what is shocking. If it happened in Zambia or El Salvador, yeah ok, but the USA is far better than any of those. That is what shocked the world - that it could happen in the greatest nation on earth - one bad apple shocks - a lot of bad apples don’t.

however I agree with you - this entire matter is an internal American matter. The other countries should butt out.
As I said above - the reason they are shocked is because the USA is held to (and nearly always meets) a higher standard. The Germans can be shocked, but they should stay out of this matter.
