China has a long term investment in Africa because of rare earth. When the African states wake up to the exploitation and how they’re being snookered...they’ll be hell to pay. Its a Chinese debt trap.

The article mentions a rail line from Zambia to Tanzania. My son rode on that line. He understood that the Chinese ripped out a rail line in china and moved it to Africa. Much of the signage is still in Chinese. to make matter worse the gage of the line is the Chinese standard not the standard used in Africa so the line is not compatible with the other rail systems. The line is not that reliable. My son's train was stuck for 12 hours in the middle of nowhere. He said nowhere is in Africa is has its own unique meaning.
