Seat belts are government mandated.
Face masks seem to be a suggestion rather than a mandate.
It’s quite obvious that many people do not understand the Pneumonic actions associated with spreading the shedding.
Is a facemask totally effective? It is not. Wearing a facemask (unless it’s an N95) is not for the benefit of the wearer. But for the people that the afflicted (knowingly or not) may come in contact with, if they are shedding.
The potential for Pneumonic aspiration has a greater chance.
Everyone who can read probably understands that Viruses are different than a bacteria, and in the case of the Bubonic plague, although originally caused by flea bites from infected rats... once people became bubonic (which means glandular) it was also spread throughout populous areas by both pestilence (fleas) and pneumatic action. Science understands that because the bubonic plague is still around, the hardest hit area of the Bubonic plague today is Madagascar. If you look at a map of Bubonic plague hotspots there’s even a few in the United States. But since it’s a bacteria it can be fought successfully.
At some point Merchants will have the option or the choice to add a caveat to the often seen sign “no shirt, no shoes, no service”, with the addition of no face masks... and merchants have the freedom to do just that.
It’s really for the benefit of the employees and other shoppers.
It benefits no one. Masks are ineffective at preventing the wearer from contracting the disease or preventing the wearer from spreading the disease. There is no magical one way mask

Which is exactly what I said it’s for the safety of others. In an operating room the surgical team wears masks it’s not to protect them from the patient on the table. The surgical team wears masks to protect the patient on the table from them.
Same goes in and around the public.
The wearer is keeping their pneumonic aspirants from spreading.
