Seattle police chief blasts city officials, says leaving precinct ‘not my decision’

Seattle’s Police Chief told her department on Thursday that it was “not my decision” to abandon a precinct in an area of the city now taken over by protesters — and blasted city officials for giving in to the demonstrators.

In a video address published on the department’s YouTube page, Chief Carmen Best said the city “relinquished to severe public pressure.”

“You fought for days to protect [the precinct]. I asked you to stand on that line. Day in and day out, to be pelted with projectiles, to be screamed at, threatened and in some cases hurt,” Best told the force.

“Then to have a change of course nearly two weeks in, it seems like an insult to you and our community.”

“Ultimately the city had other plans for the building and relented to public pressure,” she added. “I’m angry about how this all came about.”

Her comments came a day after the department said it would try to reopen the East Precinct.

The situation caught the attention of President Trump, who on Thursday demanded that local authorities step in to take the streets back — or he will.

“Radical Left Governor @JayInslee and the Mayor of Seattle are being taunted and played at a level that our great Country has never seen before. Take back your city NOW. If you don’t do it, I will,” the president tweeted on Thursday.

“This is not a game. These ugly Anarchists must be stopped IMMEDIATELY. MOVE FAST!”

It took the city a long time to find the right combination of political correctness, callowness, and malleability. It’s taking them far less time to throw her under a bus.

She should have quit on the spot—but that would have required integrity and character—_way_ above her pay grade.

"She should have quit on the spot—but that would have required integrity and character—_way_ above her pay grade."

I watched a 12 minute clip of Tucker Carlson's opening to his show tonight. At 5:46 minutes, he plays a clip of the Chief's statement regarding the police station being abandoned. At about 6:48 minutes into the clip, Tucker begins to talk about the new war lord of CHAZ...Raz Simone. He shows photos of the guy, and in some, the Chief of Police is seen standing next to him. In one photo, she's seen laughing it up. I saw that and wondered what the hell is there to laugh about?

Here's the link to the video on Brietbart.com. I have a MacBook Air, and the video initially showed an error message that says the video couldn't play, but to click "here." When I clicked on "here", it started playing. Could be it doesn't like Apple's Safari browser, but it did finally work.

Thanks for the link—excellent clip.

You are correct that the Police Chief and Raz seem to be on friendly terms, so I agree, she is playing for the other team.

I think Tucker Carlson has it exactly correct—the best way to deal with this is to stay calm and:

—Ridicule the protestors
—Publicize CHAZ far and wide so the Democrats and the mass media can’t play the “denial” game.
—Force the Democrats and mass media to make excuses and bizarre explanations like the writer who claimed CHAZ was a “festival”.
—Publicize the bizarre explanations far and wide to use the opportunity to ridicule the mass media and their crazy leftwing reporters/editors.

This is a great opportunity for our side to use humor and publicity to totally humiliate the Democrats and their allies.

Rub their noses in CHAZ.

Make them own CHAZ.

Tell them we reserve the right to create our own CHAZs in the blue states at a time and place of _our_ choosing.

To the Freepers who want the President to _do_ something I say this—that is the trap the leftists _want_ him to fall into—this is designed to turn into a Palestian body count UN condemnation “Trump is Hitler” nightmare PR stunt.

It would be totally stupid for the President to go there.

Stupid.

Full stop.

CHAZ is the best thing that has happened to “our side” in years, if we are smart about it.

Make the Democrats _own_ it.

Then _we_ _win_.

Winning is good.

CHAZ will go away the moment the Democratic Governor and Democratic Mayor and lefty police chief realize that the mouse who fell into the trap to try to grab the cheese was not President Donald Trump, it was the Democratic Party and their press agents in the mass media.

I ask my brother-in-law, he and his wife are good Democrats, what they thought of it. They didn’t even know it was going on. Which my guess is since they’re pretty much your average Democrat, most of your run-of-the-mill Democrats don’t even know this is happening

A lot of people misinterpret that as Dirty Harry being sexist. It was more about promoting solely based on gender, rather than experience. He would have no problem with a woman who was qualified.

Great summation and advice. I saw today that the Chief says that rapes and robberies are taking place in CHAZ, and the police can’t respond. Well, yes you could Chief, if you knew how to use your police department, and actually wanted to do anything about it. It could be just BS that she’s spinning this crap on direction of the Mayor, etc., in order to try to entice President Trump to do something. I say let them destroy themselves, the sooner the better. I’m 72, and worked in NY State Corrections for 25 years, and I have to say that these people who call themselves leaders, and the moron Governor Inslee, are among the dumbest people I’ve ever seen in my whole life. They sure as hell don’t have the best interest of the rest of the people who live in the city and the state. They are nothing more than an embarrassment.
