De Blasio seriously declares himself the nation’s greatest mayor
NY Post ^ | June 12 2020 | Julia Marsh and Nolan Hicks

Mayor Bill de Blasio’s own staff have excoriated him in public letters and with an unprecedented march across the Brooklyn Bridge over his handling of citywide protests — but that didn’t stop Hizzoner from declaring Friday that he’s the nation’s greatest mayor.

“This is the strongest mayoralty in the country, in every sense, and the strongest city in the country, in every sense, and we can persevere through all sorts of challenges and we will. So I’m quite confident in what we can do in the next year and a half,” the term-limited mayor boasted at his daily City Hall press briefing.

And he said anyone who doubts that doesn’t have a firm grasp on reality.

It’s official.

He’s clinically insane and a narcissist. :)

I suspect with just a year and a half left he will try to do what he could not until now.

Destroy Staten Island with projects and drug shelters all along the south shore.

So far we’ve been able to fight him off.

Let’s see if it lasts.

The only great mayor that NYC ever had was Guiliani.

Well, de Blasio could have declared himself the world’s greatest mayor. But he didn’t. So at least I’ll give him credit for that.

The Dems totally control the entire state. I’m beginning to think that the makeup of State and County Legislatures should be more partisan. But how do you do that except by voting? You need some kind of check.

Is this some sort of Dunning-Krueger effect pushed up to the insanity level?

Fiorello La Guardia was a pretty good mayor too. He was mayor from 1934 until 1945. Like Guiliani, La Guardia was a Republican. That’s just a coincidence, I’m sure.

Reminds me of the boss on The Office holding up a “World’s greatest boss” coffee mug and saying, “I think that pretty much says it all.” and then he adds, “I got it at spencers.”

I had never heard of the Dunning-Krueger effect before. It matches what I have been using for a long time. My version was that some people are so dumb, they don’t know they are dumb. I didn’t realize I was clinically correct.

I was in a city in NYS, may have been Binghamton I’m not sure, heard several people bitching about taxes, cost of living and stupid regulations.
As they were at the table beside me I heard everything easily.
I politely interrupted and asked them which party they usually voted for. To a person they proudly claimed to be lifetime democrats.
I casually asked if they had ever thought about letting the other party have 8-10 years to see if things would get better.
They looked at me like I had grown a third arm. It was clear that on politics no one was home.
