A California lawmaker wants to make it illegal to make discriminatory 911 phone calls.
Assemblyman Rob Bonta, D-Oakland, announced that he is introducing legislation that would make it a hate crime to make a 911 phone call motivated by another person’s race, religion, sex or any other protected class. The bill also would allow people who are victims of such phone calls to sue the caller.
There have been several instances that have gone viral on social media of a white person calling 911 on a Black person over trivial concerns, such as a 2018 incident in Oakland in which a woman called police to report a group of black men barbecuing near Lake Merritt.

If someone is dense enough to call 9-1-1 if McDonalds forgot the nuggets, the dispatcher has the discretion to hang up on the cretin. Likewise, for phony reasons like “race”.

If you see someone acting abnormal (i.e. the dancing in bike lane) then that is a possible reasonable call to at least warrant an investigation. Let the cops come, check it out and if noting is wrong, they go away. Someone dancing in the street where cars or bikes usually are warrants a look, if only for a safety check, i.e. make sure they are not likely to get hit by car, etc.
My wife was born in the Philippines too, and thinks this guy is a real piece of shit. Not all Filipinos like each other.

There’s a new effort to recall Gavin Newsom. I believe prior efforts have failed because fake online petition sites invite people to sign, but those petitions are worthless and not used in the official tallies needed to get the recall on the ballot.

Its snowing in Idaho. Come to Florida - no income tax, most places 7% sales tax, anywhere you are, you’re within 50 miles of a beach resort, no earthquakes, very few mini-tornadoes and the hurricanes you can see for days ahead to decide.
Hint: West Coast of FL rarely has a hurricane problem.

State firearm laws preempt ALL local attempts to limit your rights so you can carry anywhere except strictly bars, sport events and gubmint meetings and of course, at church.
No open carry or at the post office (just don’t tell anyone you’re armed) even though that’s a likely place you’d like to be armed.
Anywhere else you just ignore the weapons signs. Worse case on private property they can insist you leave.
