Wasn’t entirely dumb. It’s not that tickets are limited or that admission isn’t first-come-first-served even without tickets. It’s that the Trump campaign was publicizing the number of tickets ordered. Attendees weren’t about to teleport to the event. If even 100,000 people had shown up, parking and getting there would have been a nightmare. Far better for Trump to keep the number of tickets ordered private so as not to depress attendance.

Looking at the photo by the New York Times, it looks like most of the lower level was filled. The upper level section did have empty seats. So I estimated at least half of the 19,000 seats were taken, about 9500. No way is it only 6200.
