Saw this pop up on my news feed, but interestingly enough when I searched for it on Google, only stories on Capt. Crozier from April came up...I had to switch to News instead of All.

This is the correct action.

Yes, correct action. Believe it or not, readiness level is classified information and letting that information out in the public domain is a big no no.

Good, that exactly what should happen.

The really disturbing part of this is the lack of discipline shown by the crew. They acted like a bunch of little snowflakes instead of stoic warriors.

As I said in threads before, I don’t know the story about the Captain’s intentions, and I read the actual letter he sent up the chain...where he said he was willing to fight his ship.

His mistake was spamming that letter to so many people that some deep state scumbag somewhere used it for their own political purposes to damage Trump (IMO)

That was an error of judgement that they do not allow Captains of the most powerful warships on the face of the earth to fall victim to.

I know very little about the Captain, but that was a mistake, and he paid for it.

In that rarefied atmosphere...the tolerance for mistakes of any kind or errors in judgement is exceedingly small. He of all people should have known that.

That was disturbing as well.

The Captain’s allegiance is to the mission of the ship. It is nice to know he was popular with the crew, but it counts for very little unless he is a Captain Queeg...and even then.

It is only half of the correction action. The second half of the correct action would be to cashier him out of the Navy.

Note also: the promotion of RADM Stu Baker, the senior officer onboard Theodore Roosevelt at the time, has been placed on hold.

This pussy captain needs to stay fired. He let a little virus that killed only one fat ass crew member sideline one of the most powerful weapons we have. The PC crap has to end in our military.

That “fat ass crew member” was willing to put his life on the line to protect our freedom. Disagree with Capt. Crozier’s decision all you like but insulting the rank-and-file sailors is uncalled for.

The crew member was fat and out of shape. That made him vulnerable to the ChiCom flu. Fat asses should not serve in our military. They put others in danger.

Agreed. The admiral who made the decision originally came out for reinstatement. Additional information led him to recommend not reinstating. Military decisions are not made on the basis of popular opinion. Much of the popular opinion in military command and political circles was outrage at the firing of MacArthur for repeatedly contradicting the orders of the President, his commander in chief. Among a lot of the troops on the ground and those who had served under his thumb before had a different opinion but only the opinion of his CINC mattered.

That is interesting. As Paul Harvey would have said...

Too bad. So sad.

Be even better if he had to forfeit his pension.

He looked like he had a few extra pounds but he was not fat from the photos I’ve seen. Unlike his wife who is also military who looked clearly overweight. I doubt that obesity was his underlying condition if he had one. He put no one in danger by dying of COVID-19. I am sure you are the picture of perfect health and fitness, ready to take one COVID or any threat or illness.

Unkind and ignorant of you to talk about a man who served his country and died as a result. What would his wife who also serves think?

Maybe Stu and the Captain will have to start using the Chief’s Club. My DI wanted to take me to the Chief’s Club with him to beat up several people that he didn’t like. Out of boot camp and into the brig.
