Sacramento Sheriff, other capital agencies won’t enforce Newsom’s mask order. Here’s why

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office will not be enforcing the statewide order Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Thursday requiring masks and face coverings in public as coronavirus cases continue to increase in California.

In a statement Friday, the Sheriff’s Office recommended people should be “exercising safe practices” during the pandemic, including wearing masks, but said it would be “inappropriate” to criminally enforce the governor’s order, or target people and businesses for failing to do so.

“Due to the minor nature of the offense, the potential for negative outcomes during enforcement encounters, and anticipating the various ways in which the order may be violated, it would be inappropriate for deputies to criminally enforce the Governor’s mandate,” a statement from Sheriff Scott Jones said.

I agree with the sheriff. Besides nearly half of people are refusing to mask now that do much more is known about this virus and it’s available treatment anyway

Face covering is for Muslim women and bank robbers.

I am neither.

I think the Sheriff had to wave off enforcement to permit rioters to continue without masks. Otherwise, he’d have to process all the rioters/protesters.

Whatever you guys all did with the governor in his last state emergency response exercise is fine. You know, whatever you discussed before the pandemic and the civil unrest.

I agree with the Sheriff too but N95 masks are available all over now. Why not wear one when inside public places especially if you are over 60 or otherwise at risk? N95 masks can at least reduce viral load. Let us not become anti-mask rather be against it being forced on us.

You can wear a mask. I’ll pass and don’t care for your input on it.

Unless you have a ventilated N95, you are likely to feel light-headed after about 10 minutes of wearing it. Trust me, I’ve been there, done that.

Not only does the mask keep out those nasty, filthy, dirty Liberal germs, but it also prevents the CO2 you exhale from dissipating into the atmosphere. So when you inhale, you take in an added amount of CO2 with the oxygen. Do that for too long and you can turn into Joe Biden!

Bad, sure, but nowhere near bad enough to justify Newsom’s power-mad decrees.

I excused the first decrees since little was known then. But since, no way! I’m still wearing the damned mask in stores to allay anyone’s concerns who might not have followed the news on this. Ok that’s a courtesy. But I won’t willingly let Newsome or anyone else take my liberties away any more than that

I wear mask in stores etc. as courtesy to anyone who may still be worried. But an increasing number of people are now refusing

I think all the rioting and looting has shown this isn't about safety, it's about control and making you obey.

Sheeple

HeH - couple of days ago I passed a little old lady while on my way out of a store who had a black bandana draped down her face - I said "you look like you're fixing to rob a bank." She busted out laughing. Gotta find the humor where you can.

Went to the store today. Some people masked up and others not. I carried one just incase but nobody said a word. I was pleasantly surprised Californians aren’t falling for this garbage as heavily as I thought they would.

Is it too demanding of your intelligence to replace “do” with “so”?

In California masks are mandatory, with exceptions. One of those is in movie theaters. What? My wife said that doesn't make sense, with people crowded into a confined space for hours.

I told her to follow the money. Theaters make money from food concessions. If they forced people to wear masks in a theater, they won't make profits from people consuming overpriced popcorn and drinks. Plus they probably paid off politicians to get an exemption. Whether to wear a mask enforceable by law is all about politics, not your health.
