The target is all symbols and reminders of history. Every Communist regime and every Moslem regime demands that the people believe that History started with themselves, that everything that went before is irrelevant or nonexistent. If no one knows history then they will believe anything they are told by “authorities.” They are not just targeting Democrat history but ALL history. You are correct. They are leveling anything that's a statue. This has very little to do with black this and that. It's ALL about cultural Marxism. Even some on BLM know the cause is fake and a Soros front. America is being erased and there is little push back. There is the fact that this whitewashing is in DNC zones but this will still have a far reaching impact nationwide because the left controls most of the cultural,media,educational and corporate society.
