McMurtry might have been a credible challenger to Massie, but his campaign was doomed by two things:

1. His anti-Trump rhetoric from 2016 completely undermined his claim to be a Trump loyalist.

2. He’s a trial lawyer, which — combined with the verifiable phoniness in Item #1 — makes him utterly untrustworthy.
