Politically, besides the point that it's a nutty proposal, the tax credit isn't refundable so this only benefits people to the extent they pay significant income tax.

Poor people won't get anything while the wealthy get free taxpayer-funded vacations.

The ads write themselves.

Exactly. They could get an additional tax credit if they took a Social Security recipient with them.
