How may of these hospitalizations are FOR Covid and how many are hospitalizations for something else WHILE Covid?

I don’t live in Texas, but I refuse to accept a “New Normal”.

Unfortunately, such matters can be mostly independent of your acceptance. For example, you can refuse to wear a mask at places that require it - but you won’t be able to enter such places.
So the “new normal” for you would then be to either find alternatives or go without.
If a person lives by him/herself in the middle of nowhere, never going anywhere, with little or no contact ever with people anyway, it all has minimal impact on life. People in the Antarctic have it made that way.

> A problem arises when mail in balloting is REQUIRED due to a lockdown.

Bingo ! That is what I am worried about, Gov. Abbot will cave on allowing it for non-absentee voting.

Perhaps I am confused on how it works in Texas. States can have their own rules so perhaps in Texas you cannot get an absentee ballot by simply requesting it. Is that the case? Do you actually have to be out of State to vote absentee in Tx?

I do too. When younger people do get a severe case their progression is similar to when that age group has a severe case of the flu. Sadly it can be fatal and if they survive a severe case the damage done to their bodies is often long term if not permanent. But that is not the normal course in that age group and to base public policy on what is out of the ordinary is a bad idea.

Ahh.

To be honest I don't know all of the details either, but there has been a very public campaign to allow for universal mail in voting this fall which seemed to die down along with the COVID-19 cases, and Gov. Abbot was very good on this.

He blocked blue counties from imposing more onerous restrictions and blunted their push for mail in voting.

However, it seems that Abbot has begun to cave in this week, and if these lockdowns continue through the summer, I fear he will cave on universal mail in voting this fall.

I haven’t read/heard that Mail in voting, for the General Election, has actually been approved, for TX.

Do you have a link?

Last I heard, Paxton put a stop to the Dems shenanigans.

But....your calling out Abbott AND Trump (as p***y and probable loser) in your post, is telling and has been noted. Geez.
