Totally agree-most of us out here only did 1/2 house arrest-not the full montey with masks on everywhere, etc and most of us moved our businesses outdoors that could, since this is a rural area-we had haircuts, dye touch-ups and manicures-and the local gym and aerobics classes under the trees, feed store set up under a tarp in the store owner’s goat pasture, etc-it was the only way we could keep from going totally out of business and broke-even the local mechanic I go to would change the oil, put on new brake pads, etc as long as you wiped down the vehicle inside then went and sat in his front yard while he took your vehicle into his pole barn/shed and did the work-when the repair was done, he’d bring your vehicle to the yard, wipe it down down, dip the keys in sanitizer, etc-text the bill to you and let you pay with Paypal...
Our governor needs to know we are not going to comply if he listens to the panic media and chicken littles-he’s done great so far, so keep it up-I sent an email saying that-hope everyone does...

Yes the AZ numbers are starting to show up on worldmeter. For the first time in months we exceeded the previous high. So that is NOT a good sign, and could be the early signal of a second wave. Crap. Just what Trump needs. His main opponent is not so much Biden as it is COVID and the economy.

“We are seeing an uptick in new cases in Santa Fe County and this is to be expected in the sense that we were all told as we opened up our economy, as we opened up restaurants and shops, there would be more cases. What we have to watch out for is that uptick becoming a major reoccurrence and a serious threat to our well-being,” he said. “It’s absolutely essential that we not lose our focus about COVID-19.”
Webber also noted that more tourists are coming to Santa Fe, some from neighboring states Arizona, Texas and Oklahoma. Hospitalizations in both Texas and Arizona were hitting record highs this week.
“We are welcoming them but we need to advise them of our COVID conduct…we need to remind them that when they are in Santa Fe, [when] they are outside or inside, they are supposed to be wearing a mask.” To that end, Webber said the city was in the process of preparing more literature about local COVID-19 rules, as well as “lapel pins.”
“We are opening the city. We are seeing people come. They are getting away from their own communities where there were more sick people. We don’t want more sick people here. We do want to be open,” he said, noting the city has free masks for people who need them.
SFR recently queried the health department regarding the 51 new COVID-19 cases reported in Santa Fe County between June 9 and June 21. According to a health department spokesman, none of those cases were connected to either visitors or travel.
The governors of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut today jointly announced mandatory 14-day quarantines for visitors to their cities who are coming from states meeting certain criteria for high rates of infection. Those nine states right now are: Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Washington, Utah and Texas. New Mexico currently requires a 14-day quarantine for most visitors arriving by airplane.
New Mexico’s weekly report modeling the disease says the effective rate of transmission—how many secondary cases occur as the result of one positive case—increased over the last week to 1.08. The current target is 1.05
The northeast health region—which includes Santa Fe—currently has the highest effective rate of transmission: 1.34. The region also has the lowest percentage of COVID-19 cases resulting in death: 1.2%.
Overall, however, daily case counts statewide have plateaued, while hospitalizations and deaths have decreased. Nationwide, more than 35,000 new COVID-19 cases were identified today, making this the third highest total of any day in the US since the pandemic began, according to The New York Times.

Theory is trapped inside a building recirculating the air, lots of folks get Covid. Higher humidity ...even if just outside reduces airborne transmission potential.
I downloaded the Wello app on my phone to track my area potential for transmission better. High humidity is a blessing and a curse. But AC with everyone gathering inside...even with masks/social distancing is worrisome.

How the heck did that happen?
Well, that is true.
They are attempting to blame the rally for the increase. Fail. There is at least a five day incubation period for the virus. If it was spread at the rally (a big if), there wouldn't be an increase in cases until Sunday or later. And that is assuming all of the attendees were tested next week so they would be part of the increased case number. Do they think we are that stupid?
