Lying is not a crime unless related to material issue.

Fine, but the lie is what he was charged with, not having the call.

He hasn't denied the lie.

I'm not saying he should be in jail, only that pretending he didn't lie is silly.

If you lied about what you had for breakfast that is not criminal. He was charged for lying about something that had no consequence because no crime was being investigated.

Now that is just not true. He said he could not recall all that he said in his call with Kislyak. Of course the FBI had the illegally obtained phone call and knew exactly what was on it. AKA perjury trap.
