I saw a doctor wearing a surgical mask while seeing a patient today. It was not an N95. I know another doctor who wears masks made by a member of her family. They’re close fitting masks with forms to fit snugly around the nose, but they’re not fancy particle filters.

And they can be made much better than that. There are quite a few videos on the Net with patterns and instructions. Some put removable pipe cleaners in the masks for a snug fit across the bridge of the nose.
Most masks prevent infection by most people.
Most. The better ones (n-95) do a better job of it, but any coverage offers greatly better than no mask.
N-95 is better than a regular mask. A regular mask does a better job than just a mask. A N-95 with glasses are better than an N-95. An N-95 with goggles is better than an N-95 with glasses.
ALL of those are better than not wearing any protection.

The dimension of the bare virion is immaterial. In the cough spray virus particles are clustered and surrounded by large molecules. The minimal effective particle size specification of an N95 is more than adequate to catch these amalgams.

One thing most communities fear above all else is a lawsuit they haven’t budgeted for. I’d be happy to cost them a few hundred grand and refuse to pay my property taxes for a couple of years. They’d cave in a week.

The only time I wore a mask was to get a haircut a couple weeks ago. After about 3 months without one, I had an out of control mop on my head. Our asshat governor has mandated that we wear them. Fortunately South Carolina is 10 minutes away. I’ll just go there to do my shopping instead.
We are f%cked. With all the cubic Stupid, we might as well burn the Constitution and welcome our Communist overlords.
If they can get the other 11% to wear a mask in public, we might be able to beat this thing by Christmas. Maybe

I think 99+ % of people were NOT wearing an N-95 mask when they shut down the system here, it was just that every single person. Everyone. Everyone in the street, everyone in every store, every cab driver, every flight attendant, literally EVERYONE, everywhere, every single person, wore a mask. Not N-95. But EVERYONE wore a mask.
Everyone.
I think that is what worked.
I really do.
I am currently in a coffee shop, here. People in the coffee shops now are ok, most everyone is no longer wearing a mask.
In public, on a scooter, everyone still wears a mask, but that has always been the case.
More people are now wearing a mask than usual, just because the country is starting to open up to some countries, like Japan. So there is an increasing risk now.
But the real public shut-down was about 2 months ago, when they completely shut down for about two months.
It’s a psychological op.
Just went to grocery store. 0% wearing masks. Mostly black customers, most in Trump gear. Might Trump carry Oklahoma somehow in November? I think he still might have a chance.
