18-Year-Old Mt. Morris Man Charged With Attacking Macy’s Store Manager

FLINT TOWNSHIP (WJRT) (6/26/2020) - Charges were filed Friday in the attack of a Macy's employee at the Genesee Valley Center in Flint Township last week.

Video of the incident circulated social media for nearly two weeks.

Friday afternoon, the Genesee County Prosecutor charged 18-year-old Damire Palmer with assault to do great bodily harm less than murder, a 10-year felony.

Flint Township Police have been looking for Palmer and his brother in connection to the case since it happened June 15th.

Investigators still have not been able to question the brothers.

But Friday afternoon the Genesee County Prosecutor moved forward with charges against one of them.

Why is only Damire Palmer charged?

Leyton explained he received the case just this week on Tuesday, after looking at video on Wednesday and talking to additional witnesses, he said the evidence so far only points to assault and there's only enough evidence to charge one person.

Leyton said the 18-year-old is the attacker in the 18-second clip seen across the country on social media.

I dread working in the public sometimes,but that's what I do for a living.
I give them mostly what they want,but management halts things to a limit. It's reasonable but some snap at you for just doing your job! This was a set up...period!

The men in retail are very young or working their way through college. Easy job and clean.
My son-in-laws are also young with the exception of one who is in management in construction,but
work hard core construction and in the oil fields.
Its not all young men,just some choose a different work environment,maybe think it's safer and less physical. I've always felt safe around my bunch,hey they wear their pride everyday and not afraid to honor their family of vets!

His first mistake was to let them slip up behind him. I was raised to never turn my back on a wild animal. The number of legs on the animal are irrelevant. Hopefully, he will heed the lessons he should have learned. And not the. "What have I done to you to make you hate me?" When you are on the job in particular retail ..you're not expecting a thug to punch you out.
As I Said before,working in retail for many years I take a lot of abuse verbally. So sad but the culture is..okay what else can I do to make this better for you!
Physical danger is real and now I'm not taking it anymore! I'm at least aware and will deal with it as it happens.

Employers nowadays know the employee can sue for an unsafe workplace, or spend a few years on workers comp for these episodes; it is no mystery as to why online sales are replacing brick & mortar for many items.

Customers don’t want to be exposed to the ferals either.
