I suppose it depends on where you are, in Nebraska I can still get guns and ammo at gun stores, there are periodic shortages of popular calibers. Then there are places like hardware stores that are good locations to scoop up 9mm and .22 cal.
The Rural King in Plano, IL is wiped out of guns and ammo. They were even out of targets! If you go on the Rural King website every gun is marked “sold out” You cannot order ammo on line and pick up in store - they don’t have the inventory.
