I took me a long time to unlearn dropping what I am doing, jumping up, and answering the stupid phone. But once I did, it was liberating.

This reminds me of an old joke about the oldster who had a phone put into his home. A friend called him several times and received no answer. So, the friend dropped by to check on him, and asked him why he didn't answer the phone. The reply, "I put that phone in for my convenience, not everybody else's."

An old joke that, with Caller ID and the failure of the Do Not Call List, becomes more relevant with every passing day.
