Speaking for myself, I rarely answer the phone if I don’t know who is calling.
Experience has taught me, that 99+% of the time an unknown number is calling, the call is from someone I don’t want to talk to.
And I expect that if it is important, whoever is calling will leave a message and I will call back at my convenience.
I’m sure I’m not the only one who prefers to let unknown calls go to voice mail. I don’t want to talk to telemarketers, or someone pretending to be from the IRS.

Same here. That also my policy when it comes to answering my door.
