A logical question. If the racial unrest is costing Trump white support, why is he not also losing minority support?
I’m sure Trump’s support among “swing voters” has been shaken by the media onslaught, but still this poll sounds like wishful liberal thinking.
Lots of time for Trump to shore up support.
Actually just had a conversation with a woman this past week. We talked about Trump and she said she is sorry she ever voted for him. Why? Covid-19 response.
We talked our way through it. Preface this with she’s a healthy 72 year old. She is terrified. Terrified. The thing that has her most upset is the whole Mask issue and his leadership on the response. As we chatted and delved in deeper I hope she realized the take-a-way was the whole response was built around Birrx and Fauci’s recommendations. That the President has to leave response up to the state Governors and the role of the Federal is to provide support if needed. And it is the role of the individual to follow recommendations and do what’s best for themselves. And we concluded that if we had Hillary or Biden, things would be worse. She still wants Trump to “wear a mask,” in public. Set an example by action, even if it is a photo op only.
So my point is, this particular person isn’t shaken by the riots/looting/BLM. She’s shaken by the virus response. She isn’t going to actually go out and vote for Biden, but she likely isn’t going to vote at all.
Biden isn’t going to win because more people vote for him or switch, it will be because people will not vote at all.
We need to pull together a massive ‘get out the vote’ effort. I think if we can speak to people as individuals, we can help squash the democrat narrative. But we’ve got to have the understanding this effort is going to need to be different. It’s not about how bad Biden is. It is about getting people out to vote.
Losing Trump from office due to voter apathy will be the worst thing that could happen to our country, in our lives, and for liberty.
