I have no issue with him saying this. However, I question the timing.
These political hacks are doing constant polling, and right now "Wear masks!" polls very well among suburban Karens.
Masks are a psychological prop. Much better protection is afforded by using a face shield, which has the advantage of being reusable many more times as long, are more comfortable overall, protect the eyes as well, and allow for facial recognition. Also, there are no breathing problems or fogging up of your eyeglasses every time you exhale.
