1) I think those statues belong in public squares of the locations that originally put them up. It's local history and there is no need to hide it or be ashamed of it.
2) A museum filled with Confederate statues would be a complete target for people "outraged" over a museum with the gall to "celebrate" white supremacy.
People need to accept that slippery slope is real. It may start with destroying monuments and statues in the public square, but it can devolve into destroying the museums, and possibly book burning if not stopped.
