In the wake of public protest against a statue of Theodore Roosevelt that has stood before the entrance of the American Museum of Natural History for 80 years, New York City Councilman Joe Borelli is taking a stand for liberty. Borelli has informed The Federalist in an exclusive that he plans to introduce legislation that would put the fate of New York Citys more than 800 landmarks up for a referendum before they are removed.

I did my small bit to fight back today. I received a mailer from the Museum of Natural History looking for a donation. I used their self addressed, postage paid return envelope to let them know they weren’t getting a donation due to their efforts to remove the Teddy Roosevelt statue.

As a boy, TR roamed New York City with a shotgun. He was collecting specimens for his hobby of taxidermy.

My dad, born and raised in Brooklyn, used to take his 22 single shot rifle on the subway when he was headed out of town to hike in the mountains.

What could they possibly have against Teddy Roosevelt? He was a progressive just like the Democrats of today. He was from New York and didn't own slaves. I'm stumped.

Theodore Roosevelt posthumously won the Medal of Honor in early January of 2001, awarded by Bill Clinton to Teddy’s family in the Roosevelt Room. He won it for his actions in the Spanish-American War. Now they want to destroy his memory.

Confederate monuments are not the first monuments destroyed by the left! The parents of these rioters using different tactics but the same core ideology had every religious monument removed from our public spaces.

I'm currently reading the book titled: "Dinosaurs in the Attic" by Douglas L. Preston. He also writes book series with Lincoln Child. Their most well known is The Pendergast Series. I've been reading the series since the first book "The Relic" came out. "Dinosaurs in the Attic" tells the story of the beginning of the Museum of Natural History, the struggles it had in the beginning, the various expeditions it sponsored to gather dinosaur fossils, artifacts, geographical and anthropological information, etc. That's in the first part of the book. The second part is a literary guide to the museum and it's collections.
One of the main things that struck me about the early beginnings of the museum, was the determination of those early organizers, to have the best museum in the world for its visitors, and they went out of their way to get what they wanted. I don't see that kind of fight in the administrators of today. I see a bunch of weak-kneed, spineless idiots, who are willing to toss history aside to placate a hand full of people. It makes me sick.
I live in New York State...about an hour east of Syracuse. I've been to the museum several times in the past, but I would never visit it again because of the lack of leadership within it, and their willingness to roll over for any slight complaint.

I graduated from TRHS back in Iowa. I imagine the great old memorabilia of President Roosevelt will suddenly go missing.

Tr also was an unabashed US patriot, he was true ;gun nut’ and liked to kill big game (a lot of it) and occasionally people (as in the Spanish American War. He wanted the US to be a great military and imperial power as he believed that only in this way could our security as a huge and wealthy country be assured. So, in spite of agree with W Wilson in principle on most issues, historians have sniped at and demeaned TR since he died. Theodore Roosevelt may have been an imperialist, but he wanted it done for the benefit of the USA, not some globalony about a League of nations. He was also about 20 times the man Wilson was on his best day.

Well of course, yet if Teddy Roosevelt hadn't split the Republican vote in 1912 we would be a different country today. Can you see a timeline where TR was made Chief Justice?
