The Pentagon said Thursday it was "concerned" about Chinese military exercises around a disputed archipelago in the South China Sea, noting the maneuvers will "further destabilize" the region.
"The Department of Defense is concerned about the People's Republic of China (PRC) decision to conduct military exercises around the Paracel Islands in the South China Sea on July 1-5," the Pentagon said in a statement.
The activities "further destabilize the situation" in the area claimed by China, Vietnam and Taiwan, it said.
Such exercises also violate Beijing's "commitments under the 2002 Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea to avoid activities that would complicate or escalate disputes and affect peace and stability."

No, China’s military exercises will only strengthen their hold on the South China Sea. The United States is too busy on celebrating Juneteenth, removing statues and rebranding army bases named for confederate generals. Besides, Orange Man Bad. (Sarcasm,or not?)
Well Pentagon, I guess that’ll teach China. Why do we have a military again? For kickbacks from military contracts?
First they gobbled up Tibet, next the took part of India, then Hong Kong, then Taiwan, then greedy Chinese nibbled at the Russian border again and where utterly destroyed.
Well what would you have them do? Launch a nuclear strike against China’s forces?
They’re watching them and letting them know they’re being closely watched. That’s a good thing because we need to keep China in line.
China’s not in line. They are belligerent.
