He escaped the draft by joining the National Guard. I tried the guard in early 65, but; I was asked who was my old man? Yes, one needed connections like Bolton had. Frankly, I could have avoided the draft as my father was in UTR at CONARC (FT. Monroe, VA.} Our next door neighbor Col.-——— was the West Point recruiter in both Hampton and Newport News, VA.
