Barbarians havent had this much fun since the Sack of Rome.
Obviously racist against Hispanics.
Protesters exercise free speech.
Rioters tear things down.
Pretty soon they will be tearing down other Junipero Serra statues located on Church property. I think most of California’s 21 missions have statues of him.
BTW, it is pronounced “hoo neep ero” with the accent on the second syllable. Very few TV news readers get it right.
Has the pope uttered a peep about this?
Sounds like a Hate Crime, what if it was Allah and his 6 yr old Wife?
The policy and everyone of these cases should be have a large ceremony put the statue back and rivet it with giant steel underpinning so they can never be removed again
Surely they wore masks and practiced proper social distancing.
‘New Weimer’ problems have ‘New Weimar’ solutions.
The Church hierarchy thinks it can accommodate these revolutionaries; it has its own financial nightmare to deal with, and there is no point in trying to negotiate with the Reds here.
Please keep the bells on the 101. Please. We love the bells.
OK. I don’t think Junipero Serra, ... are good people by today’s standards.
Do you know what Native Americans did to other Native American tribes after they were defeated?
Much, much worse than Serra.
Shouldn’t Native Americans go to other tribes and demand historical reparation?
How far would you like to go back in history with all these grievances, and judge people with today’s standards?
Was the saint a good and kind man?
As pointed by another freeper, how far back to you go with these things? Sen. Tim Scott (SC-GOP) commented on Ted Cruz's podcast the other day that we need to stop looking out the back window and be looking out the front so we can see where we're going. He also shared some of his "colorful" voicemails most of which he said come from out of state.
He’s representing California at the US Capitol in statuary hall.
So he abused/beat native Americans. Is that true?
