1,100 Russian tanks, 330 warplanes along border with Ukraine

Our state informed OSCE about military potential being accumulated by Russia against Ukraine

Ukrainian and American experts, as well as the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, warned that under the pretext of holding strategic exercises Kavkaz 2020, Russia may resort to a large-scale offensive against Ukraine. The other day, the Russian president signed a decree on conscription from the reserve "for military training" - without specific dates for this training. This only increased the likelihood of an offensive – behind the decree may be the attempt of the Russian leadership to conduct a covert mass mobilization for military aggression.

Against this background, the question arises: what is the number of Russian troops ready to be involved against Ukraine? How many units of armament and military equipment do they have? In general, the answer to these questions was given at a meeting of the OSCE Forum for Security Co-operation on July 1.

As Ukraine currently chairs this OSCE policy-making body, the issue of implementing and modernizing the 2011 Vienna Document on Confidence- and Security-Building Measures was raised on Wednesday. The main speaker from Ukraine was Head of the Main Directorate for International Cooperation and Verification of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Leonid Holopatiuk. In particular, he pointed to the transformation of the occupied territories of Donbas into a "gray zone" that is not covered by the OSCE regime of arms control and confidence- and security-building measures.

Another factor of destabilization is the militarization of the occupied Crimea. The non-transparent nature of military exercises in the Russian Armed Forces also does not inspire confidence.

“” “” Putin could have taken Ukraine days after the coup but who would want it? Not even the EU. But Soros does for some reason. Crimea a river Putin was heard to say.”” “”

I follow the situation in Ukraine rather closely and they practically have a humanitarian catastrophe at this point.

With ‘occupied’ Crimea being such a contrast the vast majority in Ukraine now rejects the current government with the approval falling by 10% a month.

The government responding by sending Nazi thugs killing journalists and protestors but people actually started to organize and hit back.

I think all external powers realize that the government won’t last long. My guess is Biden, Soros and company are betting on a former Georgian dictator Saakashvili for the new leader of Ukraine.

All these renewed stories of ‘Russian aggression’ are rather alarming.

I think Ukraine might try to pull a sort of Falklands at this point.

It is not expensive for Ukraine to keep a bunch of drunks and Nazis on frontlines shelling civilians in Donbas over imaginary Russian threat.
They don’t have a military anymore after it was savaged by DNR militia in 2014.
Also a third of Ukrainians emigrated over 6 years. If they’d try to mobilize they’d have to arm the army with sticks and stones.
But more likely the rest of the country would emigrate first leaving the president and the government alone with their propaganda of ‘Russian aggression’.

The USA defeated Isis with some green berets, Kurds and other Syrian militias, Air Force combat controllers, a handful of artillery batteries, and a few squadrons of USAF fighter/bombers. It took a couple months.

Nobody on the planet comes anywhere close to what the USA can do. Imagine an A-team and a combat controller attached to a battalion of US mechanized infantry with Apaches, A-10’s, F-35’s, and F-22’s for top cover. Russia does have some really good equipment, but does it run?

Russia and China are desperately seeking WWIII................... Russia better think about it’s rear, the Chinese are already settling on Russian land. LOL, I see it as another exercise of eliminating the white race. Over the centuries they’ve done a good job with wars that should never had been. Just what the western hemisphere needs. More idiots killing each other. Chicago on a Large scale.

The so-called Chinese settling were always labor migrants. With the economy improved in China and the wages largely on par with Russia at least adjusted to the cost of living most went back home at this point.

Bullshit, is your last name Bolton???

The war YOU want will kill the planet as there is no such thing in that realm of participants that will make it limited in any way. Once the missiles start flying it will be over in a short time. No more tank battles and the like, that time is over

Stupid post but the some people long for wars as a substitute for what they lack usually in a physical sense

Spill your own blood and leave the rest of us out of your fantasy

[Interesting that China and Russia are both flexing
their muscles while internal unrest grips the US.

Coincidence? Probably not.]

Exactly. The riots by the Democrat tools are a national security threat. Even to other parts of the globe. It is destabilizing.

I think that one is Armageddon, just referenced several chapters ahead of 16. But, YMMV. Time will tell.

Personally, I believe that Ezekiel 38 is on the horizon and I think Mother Russia will be a part of it, along with Iran of course.

We definitely live in interesting times.

We previously concluded that Putin annexed Crimea to prevent the Muslim hoards, released by Obama’s Arab Spring policy, from entering Russia. The hoards were forced into the soft underbelly of Europe across the Mediterranean. Those who made it out of Turkey headed for Germany, France, Sweden. and now defile and destabilize those societies .

But Putin wants Ukraine and will push as far to the West as he can. With US troops about to be deployed from Germany into Poland, Putin must act before that happens.

President Trump needs to get US Soldiers into Poland by the thousands to deterr Pooty. Regular US troops are much different than the Ukrainian militias, they will grind the Russian army into dust and Putin knows it.

Pooty must act soon or not at all.I have no idea why he coivets Ukraine so much. Maybe he just wants a greater land mass to control as Russia always did.

1100 tanks? Pffph. A real tank threat would be 30,000-35000 tanks as would have come through the Fulda Gap in Germany had Russia invaded in the 60s-70s

The scale of the threat depends on what the defense has available. The Battle of France involved a panzer force roughly double the size. By comparison, Ukrainian equipment is old and likely to be maintained to Russian standards (i.e. not well) with literally 1/10 the budget. Whereas Germany and Russia were, on paper, evenly matched in equipment terms re both quality and quantity.

The point was that the headline makes it sound as if that is some huge number of tanks - scale is not the point. Kursk was only 6000 tanks, but far more than the 1100 in the headline.

True. WWII numbers were really something. But the US was devoting something like 50% of the economy towards war production, vs about 4% today. And WWII tanks were less mechanically reliable. There’s also the fact that modern laser rangefinders coupled with ballistic computers mean that one shot one hit encounters are far more frequent than during WWII. So the theory is that modern armies may need fewer tanks. We know that goes down the tubes the moment a really big war breaks out, where both side ante up on the inevitable war of attrition.
