Nike Remains Quiet After Kaepernick Calls Independence Day a ‘Celebration of White Supremacy’

Nike has not responded to a request for comment after Colin Kaepernick, one of their leading pitchmen, called Independence Day a “celebration of white supremacy.”

On Saturday afternoon, as 4th of July festivities were getting underway across the country. Kaepernick took to Twitter and accused America of having “dehumanized, brutalized, criminalized + terrorized” black people for centuries.

Black ppl have been dehumanized, brutalized, criminalized + terrorized by America for centuries, & are expected to join your commemoration of “independence”, while you enslaved our ancestors. We reject your celebration of white supremacy & look forward to liberation for all. ✊🏾 pic.twitter.com/YCD2SYlgv4

— Colin Kaepernick (@Kaepernick7) July 4, 2020

Kaepernick, the NFL’s original anthem protester, has not played in the NFL since the end of the 2016 season. After a long legal battle with the NFL, in which he accused the league of “blackballing” him and fellow protester Eric Reid, the NFL eventually settled the suit with Kaepernick. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell recently apologized for not listening to Kaepernick and other protesters. He then went so far as to say he would “encourage” a team to sign Kaepernick.

Nike has a history of tolerating Kaepernick’s radical activism and frequent attacks on America, especially on the 4th of July. Just prior to the Independence Day holiday last year, news broke that Kaepernick had convinced Nike to ditch the “Betsy Ross Flag” sneakers that the company had produced to commemorate the nation’s founding. As it turns out, Kaepernick had reached out to Nike company officials saying that “he and others felt the Betsy Ross flag is an offensive symbol because of its connection to an era of slavery.”

Shortly following Kaepernick’s complaint, Nike asked retailers to return the shoes.

While Kaepernick is far from Nike’s #1 pitchman...

I disagree. I think Kaepernick has hurt Nike and although the pandemic plays a role; their protege’, Keapernick will negatively affect them more.

Nike is NOT an AMerican company. They manufactur EVERYTHING they make from shoes, to hates, to clothes outside of the USA. Cheaply made crap for forced/slave labor. They do not care one bit about this country at ALL. They are a globalist money making machine with no loyality. Supporting insurrection against the USA is not a big deal to them.

I don’t buy their stuff. Don’t fit well, and way over priced. I like New Balance.

Pathetic. I was thinking maybe Under Armour was a good shoe company and I see rainbow “pride”’shoes on their site. “You’ll feel right at home when you step in a pile of sh** in our pride shoes!”

Black ppl have been dehumanized, brutalized, criminalized + terrorized by America for centuries

And yet, if given the chance, all blacks in Africa and elsewhere, would leave immediately to come to that 'racist' country which many blacks and liberals still know as America.

Kaepernick needs to spend a decade in an African country of his choice, and then report back with his findings. Just report back, not move back.

NIKE ... shoes made by slaves ... and this half-wit takes dollars to represent a company profiteering off ‘muslim’ slave labor... one cannot make this twisted story up even in the NYTimes... All China connections are based in ‘slavery’ ... stuck on stupid Capernick...

I suppose your point is that Chinese made products are ubiquitous, so just to be clear, yes, if there is no other source for it, I will have to buy products like computers that may include Chinese made parts, but I will not deliberately buy products from China, now when I am shopping on eBay I avoid Chinese made products, I don’t even eat American made Chinese food anymore, I am so livid at China, I assume that American companies are pulling their manufacturing out of China and relocating for greater control, and what is your point, just to be oppositional? Just being a smart aleck?
