A PLA(N) plant? An Iranian plant? We (the West) is at war with COMMUNIST China, or at least COMMUNIST China is at war with the West!

Paint, dried and on the bulkheads is fuel for fire.
Add in any aluminum superstructure.

"For example, the hangar bay has an AFFF"
Good luck explaining what AFFF is to those here who think that there is nothing more than steel in the various compartments.
You sound like your ex-Navy and would understand the radiation effect from one compartment to another. Many think a warship is just a big metal box and that steel doesn't burn, and know nothing about heat transfer between spaces. Sheesh.

I remember someone on my ship saying that he heard the British navy just seals their hatches and lets the fire go out in the compartments by oxygen deprivation.
Of course, that was just hearsay, and these amphibs have hugh compartments.

So you have advance word on the cause or are you just another amateur armchair speculator?
You should not start rumor without any proof - this is a very serious accident and will leave the Navy short effecting deployments and readiness.

"Once firefighting team evacuated, the ship was in serious trouble. Fighting a shipboard fire from a tug is not very effective. You need teams onboard. If you have a fire in your kitchen, and can only spray water from the street, you are probably going to lose your home."
Yes, and from the videos I've seen it looked like boat hoses were concentrating their water on the hull to cool it down before the fire hit some fuel or other. Firefighters often direct their attack on neighboring homes.
As an aviation swabbie, I was taught to protect the next aircraft over during firefighting drills on the flight deck. It was a lesson learned from the Forrestal.

Aqueous Film Forming Foam. They need crews inside the ship fighting the fire, and sailors that know the layout of the ship. Hose teams and donkey dicks. Praying for the sailors and their family’s.

Way down south in a private commercial yard. We did a pretty good bit of Navy work at one time, Pascagoula?

I keep trying to explain about heat radiation from compartment to compartment, and what do these know-nothings what to talk about? Conspiracies! I'm almost through with this site.

I agree. People need to put a lid on the scuttlebutt. We don’t know wtf happened. There are a million possible explanations and at the moment we know next to nothing. Speculating about sabotage or un-American elements in the ranks is wholly uncalled for right now. Navy ships are inherently dangerous places. Odds are this was an accident. In due course we will find out more. For now I give thanks to G— that nobody was killed.

As a former Navy firefighter...I'm an old Army guy who knows nothing about the Navy...but are there sailors whose MOS (IIRC they're called "ratings" in the Navy) is "firefighter"?
