Stocks extended gains Monday morning after two pharmaceutical companies received “fast track” designation for the development of their vaccine candidates against Covid-19, stoking hopes of near-term inoculation amid the pandemic.
Pfizer (PFE) and BioNTech SE (BNTX) announced that two of the companies’ four investigational vaccine candidates received the designation from the US Food and Drug Administration, which is intended to speed up both the development and review of new drugs and vaccines. Shares of both companies rose in pre-market trading.
Over the weekend, some states again reported surging numbers of new coronavirus cases, as parts of the country struggled to keep new infections at bay. Florida reported a record 15,300 new Covid-19 cases as of Sunday, the highest one-day total for any US state so far during the pandemic, while new deaths in Florida fell by more than half versus the prior day to 45.
Despite the ongoing surge in the state, Disney’s (DIS) Walt Disney World Resort began reopening in Florida on Saturday to join competitors including Comcast’s (CMCSA) Universal Studios and SeaWorld Entertainment in opening their park gates to customers in the state.

Another lie about why certain stocks are up. Man, someone ought to write a book about all of the outright lies told by the financial media as reasons for why the markets have gone up and down. Complete baloney and NOT the truth.
Well, I did notice that NON-VACCINE or NON-PHARMA related stocks are up too ( but not airline stocks ).
Could it be that this might be domino effect?
A working, safe Vaccine will help re-opening, which will in turn, return the economy to normal more quickly?
The vaccines will make the economy boom like never before! Several have worked perfectly for all volunteers in early trials. With final trials already in process, we’ll see reports from those very soon. Manufacturing is also being set up now to propagate the vaccines to the whole population very quickly. Whether or not we are all vaccinated before the election, the news and inevitability of the vaccines will certainly help President Trump to win again!

Simply because someone big wants them up. Probably told some Congressman or woman (either side) to buy something low and making sure they can sell it high. That is probably what has actually happened. They can "give" them money without being caught.

Have you noticed prices for other things rising?
MRNA is supposed to be part of the Nasdaq 100 next week. Means some index funds will be doing institutional buying. Just like if TSLA goes on the S&P 500.
