L.A. teachers union says schools can't reopen unless charter schools get shut down, police defunded

The Los Angeles Teachers Union says its schools can’t open in the fall unless charter schools are closed and the police are defunded.

These are the Marxist loons teaching your kids.

Oh, and they want more money.

83% of teachers voted to not reopen in the fall.
But they still expect to get paid.

Just the News reported:

United Teachers Los Angeles, a 35,000-strong union in the Los Angeles Unified School District, made those demands in a policy paper it released this week. The organization called on local authorities to “keep school campuses closed when the semester begins on Aug. 18.”

The union outlined numerous major provisions it says will be necessary to reopen schools again, including sequestering students in small groups throughout the school day, providing students with masks and other forms of protective equipment, and re-designing school layouts in order to facilitate “social distancing.”

Yet the union goes even farther than those requests, calling for “local support” in the form of defunded police departments and the shuttering of charter schools.

Police violence “is a leading cause of death and trauma for Black people, and is a serious public health and moral issue,” the union writes.

People who are teaching kids want to defund the police.

I homeschooled mine I went to learning school was young. Nothing I saw measured up

Mine have grad degrees and multiple undergrad majors. 3 is normal to us. And they’re not atheist. So.

This is poetic! What will these marxist teachers do when they are furloughed? Teach in Russia? China?

Once the free money stops coming in in the form of paychecks for no work, let’s see how many want the schools closed. Unfortunately it is LA so the checks will keep coming until the city slides into default. Their problem. No soup or Federal funds for you. If I were running the city, the striking teachers would be fired, the union decertified and I would spend the year hiring their replacements for 2021

The charter schools should start squatting in the empty public schools, then I bet they’d manage to find some police to evict them, but not stop deadly crime.

Put the 17% in charge and fire the rest.
Fast-track teaching certificates for former military.

The founder of ReOpen Maryland caught the virus and has been very open about it.

Besides derogatory comments by the Governor toward him, the state government has never called to see what his symptoms are. There is absolutely no interest in knowing the severity of the virus.

Political.

I’m a Trump fan BIG TIME! But, I think “education”, the way things are going, will be seen historically as Trumps biggest failure.

FOUR Steps MINIMUM:

Outlaw NEA
Return absolute military style discipline to classrooms
Principal must have ABSOLUTE “firing” power on teachers
Restore History and Civics to Curriculum

“Police violence “is a leading cause of death and trauma for Black people”

Not even close to the deaths from black on black killings

Reagan would have done that in 2 seconds when he was Governor.

Like it or not Trump starts battles he can win. In that sense he isn’t Mr Principle.

He figures he can’t win destroying the NEA. yet.

Before we left Cali....in the late 90's...we HS'd our kids. And actually it was very easy to do..as far as the regs.

Had blowback from some family...but we ignored them..pretty mush.

And they saw the fruits of our labor..eventually.

Can Trump pull a Reagan and fire them all? Probably not since they are not considered Federal deadbeats.

Keep the teachers who teach on line and pay them the ratio of their being on line to a full day. Let all the administrators and other support people go without pay.
