Two of the biggest names in auto racing — NASCAR hall of famers Ray Evernham and Tony Stewart — will launch an auto racing circuit that has the potential to be the biggest disrupter to the auto racing business in decades.

With top agent Sandy Montag and former NASCAR COO George Pyne rounding out the four-person board, Superstar Racing Experience (SRX) will feature six short-track races starting next summer.

SRX already has a TV deal in place with CBS, which has committed to carry the Saturday night races in prime time next year. The CBS deal runs for multiple years.

If I know Tony Stewart, this will soon have the politically correct NASCAR honchos sweating bullets. For some time its been known that Tony wanted to take racing back to its roots. Smaller tracks, small owners, dirt, lotsa bumping and such. He’s just the man to do it. I for one can’t wait.

It all gets phucked up

We really have too much leisure time here that this is the crap that takes our focus

We are all paying for it now and we are going to pay far more for it in the near future.

Try to avoid the political BS, CBS, and you may have a paying audience.

>>the really goode olde daze when you could watch sprint cars on the mile DIRT oval <<

Maybe you still can, but most of it is on shorter ovals. You can find it on youtube and other online sources.

Nothing quite as exciting as seeing them going into turns sideways at 120 MPH, doing a “slide-job” as they pass another driver.

I’ve even seen them go into a turn backwards, which points them in the right direction for the backstretch.

And yes, Tony Stewart came from USAC.

They still have it here in Phoenix. A smaller venue, but more fun than the big NASCAR race, and one 50th the hassle.

Then people realized that NASCAR was about as real as WWE wrestling, that whenever foreign competitors showed up and started winning they got banned, and that NASCAR racing didn’t actually result in better cars but worse ones.

NASCAR actually has retarded the development of American cars because the Big Three dumped money and effort into developing ways to go faster around an oval while everyone else was developing ways for cars to be better in the real world, such as being able to turn right as well as left and having suspensions that could handle rough real world roads.

Have you thought that the Corona lockdown may prove to many men that they can live without professional sports?

If they fly our Confederate battleflag loud and proud, they will do great..given that CBS is 2/3 BS i have my doubts.

It will only be true racing when the car owners can setup their cars and engine mods themselves and keep that secret.

Racing has been going downhill since GM couldn’t compete with the Dodge Hemi engine or the Ford SOHC.

It really showed up after Awesome Bill from Dawsonville dominated in the early 80’s. Then GM lobbied for restrictor plate racing.
