Former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions lost the Republican nomination for his old Senate seat in Alabama to former college football coach Tommy Tuberville, likely ending a long political career with a bitter defeat egged on by President Donald Trump.
Tuberville, 65, beat Sessions in Tuesdays Republican runoff as Sessions fell short in his attempted comeback for a seat he held for two decades before resigning to become Trumps attorney general in 2017.
Familiar to Alabamians from his decade as Auburn Universitys head football coach, Tuberville is now positioned for a strong challenge against Democratic U.S. Sen. Doug Jones. With Alabamas strong GOP tilt, the seat is widely viewed as Republicans best chance for a pickup as they try to maintain their thin Senate majority amid Trumps lagging popularity nationally.

you think a football coach is a normal person?
Jeff should have retired and gone fishing.
For me Tuberville is unknown besides Trump's strong endorsement. When comparing him to Sessions, a man who as AG was unable to understand the Russian coup x 2 years, despite having the power of the Justice Department at his fingertips, is unfit to be returned to the Senate. The lopsided vote last night strongly suggests, rather than the raw political power of Trump, the deep understanding of the above events by the voters of Alabama.
It's than simple.
“...I inherently loathe anyone that makes a career as being a politician...”
Most excellent statement!!!
“Professional politicians” are people who do not have the ability or intelligence to “work” for a living...
New we will see how far Sessions has gone and if he will campaign against the GOP and the President.
I believe Tommy will win, but fear hes a potential Mitt Tuberville.
If that is the case he will be One Term Tommy. Alabama is not Utah, obviously.
“...He has closely allied himself with President Donald Trump, stating support for Trump’s plan to build a wall on the border with Mexico, as well as supporting reducing the national debt. Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer is a member of Tuberville’s campaign staff...”
Tuberville is not a “professional politician”...This is his first run for a political office...
Actually, no one really knows if he is a RINO or not because he’s never been in office and voted on any issues...
This all remains to be seen...
I would guess Session’s has his eye on Shelby’s seat that will be up in 2022. Shelby would be 88 then and I doubt he’d run again. Sessions will continue doing what he has done since leaving the AG post. Nothing, basically. Contrast that to Rosenstein who actively supports the coup on twitter.
Biden won’t know, care or be told that POS Coulter is supporting him this election.
He has closely allied himself with President Donald Trump, stating support for Trump’s plan to build a wall on the border with Mexico, as well as supporting reducing the national debt.[43] Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer is a member of Tuberville’s campaign staff.
“...I wasnt too thrilled about Reagan running for prez.
Ditto Arnold S running for gov/CA.
Ditto Trump...”
That’s kinda obvious..............
In a few of the polls I looked at, related to races last night, there seems to be about a 6% under count for GOP candidates across the board. Interesting to find out who they are, when details become available. This bodes well nationally for the GE.
A fist step. New blood is badly needed in the senate. Now a long list from McConnel’s camp needs to be replaced. Im sure many on FR would rather deal with the known of McConnel’s team than risk any uncertainty with new blood.
The problem is when vultures of the unseen peeps that run the HofS (senate) swoop in and take jobs in the offices of the newbie senators.
Any Division 1 football Head Coaching job is political experience. I’m reminded of Bill Clinton getting then Arkansas Head Coach Lou Holtz fired for making a political ad in support of Jesse Helms.
Not only did a traitor ex AG go down, but an evil and cruel bastard that has made millions of chronic pain patients miserable to the point of suicide in all too many cases.
His police state surge against pain managment doctors and their patients by the wanton abuse of the controlled substance act was an exercise in tyranny.
The fact is that opioid ODs are due to poly-substances and illicits. Opioid ODs from prescribed opioids when used as directed and intended are extremely rare. Addiction rates for opioids are less than 1% and much lower than alcohol which is about 5%.
see @MichaelNey19 for more info or on FB as Michael Ney if you want the studies.
Hooray!
Sessions himself would be 75 then.
WOW.
The Dwarf got beaten 2 to 1. Truly wonderful.
Well done, Alabama!
You have made the nation safer and proud. Well done.
Burn in Hell with every other traitor, Jeff
“Can somebody please explain Anns rational between loving Christie & Romney and hating POTUS DJT?”
My best guess is that she lost conservative fans and is now trying to appeal to liberals. She’s a narcissistic troll looking for acceptance from anyone.
