Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Kanye West and Elon Musk are among the targets of an apparent Twitter hack Wednesday soliciting Bitcoin transfers.
The tweets, which all contain similar wording, include a call to action for readers to transfer cryptocurrency that “will be sent back doubled.”
“Only doing this for the next 30 minutes! Enjoy,” reads one tweet.

This title is strange.
They are getting hacked by some vulnerability not related to Bitcoin, to advertise an unsafe opportunity to do something with Bitcoin.

Probably the only safe thing you can do on Twitter right now is to temporarily deactivate your account.
For every verified account that’s been hacked, there are thousands of smaller ones.
If somebody has a de facto master key for access to every account, nobody’s safe.

Changing your password likely wouldn’t matter here. These hackers have some sort of override, looks like. Doomsday scenario that has so far been used to only collect Bitcoin.

UPDATE ON TWITTER HACK According to numerous reports, all “blue checked” Twitter accounts cannot tweet now. Shares of Twitter fell 3 percent in after-hours trading.
