PARIS - A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fire in the 15th century cathedral in the French city of Nantes that blew out stained glass windows and destroyed the grand organ, TV channel LCI reported on Sunday.
The man, a Rwandan refugee, worked as a volunteer for the cathedral and had been in charge of locking up the building on Friday night, LCI said, citing prosecutor Pierre Sennes.
Sennes said the man in custody was being held to clear up inconsistencies in his schedule.
He said on Saturday that three fires had been started at the site and that there had been no signs of a break-in. Authorities said an investigation for suspected arson had been opened.

Being from Rwanda, could just as likely be Christian or Animist. But not too many reports of those groups burning churches, so odds favor the usual “arsonist’s motive unclear” explanation.

Those words were written by a private citizen to raise money for the base to put the statue on. They had and have nothing to do with the United States government.

The Statue of Liberty was intended by its French artist and those who supported it as a tribute to America’s freeing of its slaves. As is so often the case, the Left reset the meaning of the Statue of Liberty by applying as an inscription Emma Lazarus’s tribute to mass immigration. In that manner, Republican-leaning Black voters were displaced by Democrat-leaning immigrants, both figuratively and literally.
