Gee should have said we back free speech here. The chief has a right to his opinion. Gee’s not going to do that.
What you say is true. But it all flows uphill from the University president to the Chancellor up to the Governor.
At some point, I wish somebody would have enough principle to say “If I cannot fly a flag supporting my officers, I quit.” But the money and career are always more important.
