The U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) is facing backlash from both sides of the religious liberty debate after it planned a training session that was later canceled over the speakers background in Christianity -- fueling Congressional scrutiny of both the military and the nonprofit which appeared to prompt the cancellation.
Air Force veteran Jay Lorenzen was slated to speak at an annual training for JAG reservists on Friday, but that came to a screeching halt after the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) relayed its reservist clients concerns about Lorenzens beliefs influencing his talks. An MRFF press release boasted on Saturday that its president, Michael Weinstein, was able to obtain a cancellation within just 64 minutes.
Rep. Doug Collins, R-Ga., told Fox News on Monday that he was appalled by the USMCs willingness to quickly cave to Mikey Weinsteins atheist demands to eradicate Christianity from our military.
While the Department of Defense has a long history of willfully ignoring the religious freedom of its service members, banning a former Air Force Academy professor from leading a Marine Corps training because of his Christian beliefs is absolutely unconscionable. I look forward to discussing this with Department of Defense officials at our meeting on Thursday, said Collins, a military chaplain.

In Houston the Leftists didn’t want a chaplain to give a Christian prayer at a funeral at the veterans’ cemetery.
Veterans in Houston say the Department of Veterans Affairs is consistently censoring their prayers by banning them from saying the words “God” and “Jesus” during funeral services at Houston National Cemetery.
Three organizations — the Veterans of Foreign Wars, The American Legion and the National Memorial Ladies — allege that the cemetery’s director and other government officials have created “religious hostility” at the cemetery and are violating the First Amendment. According to court documents filed this week in federal court, the cemetery’s director, Arleen Ocasio, has banned saying “God” at funerals and requires prayers be submitted in advance for government approval, MyFoxHouston.com reports.
...The Department of Veterans Affairs said in a statement that it “respects every veteran and their family’s right to burial service that honors their faith tradition.” The department employs nearly 1,000 chaplains who preside over religious burials, according to the statement.
However, the new allegations come one month after a controversy surrounding Pastor Scott Rainey’s prayer in Jesus’ name at a Memorial Day service in the cemetery. U.S. District Judge Lynn Hughes ruled May 26 that the government couldn’t stop Rainey from using the words “Jesus Christ” in his invocation. Hughes issued a temporary restraining order to prevent the Department of Veterans Affairs from censoring Rainey’s prayer...
He spent 8 years[aided and abetted by a majority of voters along with their approval] working 24/7/365 in destroying the United States of America. And the Congress of the United States of America has worked nonstop his elect ion to remove him from Office. We will only recover from the damage the bastard caused by blood shed and possibly not then. At the present it damn sure looks bleak.
The theory that if Civil War II comes to America that the police and/or military will automatically be on the side of the patriots is not necessarily founded in fact or history.
But none will because they're evidently pansy asshats now.
I recall no females in combat arms. You think I want to have a female take a pee in the bush? Obama trashed the 0-6’s and above. I had nothing but Christian SF NCO’s and officers plus Montagnards in combat. These darn LGBT would
have been thrown out by any officer I knew. This DADT started the trashing of our military.
This is unbelievable...I recall in Navy boot camp, we marched our butts to religious services EVERY Sunday and I don’t recall anyone whining.
Different military then...NO whining allowed.
POTUS is not in control of his military. That *must* change.
Mickey Weinstein once again, stirring to pot of intolerance.
Can no one rid our military of this meddlesome agitator attorney?
There’s got to be some dirrty-dirt on this guy, yet to be fully reviewed by the public.
I think we can all agree that the current commandant of the Marine Corps is a first class wimp.
Semper Infidum.
I really don’t know if Satan is having to work that hard at it ya know
Do they ban the word Allah? If not sue them. You’ll win.
It makes you want to compare their behavior with the democratic leadership in some of the cities in our nation...
Sometimes it's hard to believe that we are of the same country.... :(
Speaking from the standpoint of what would probably be now “THE OLD CORPS” point of view I would have to agree.
I HONORABLY completed my enlistment plus 1 in 1972, I think it was about 1980 or 82 I was talking to a couple of Marines in a bar and one of them mentioned that he was a “CONTRACT CORPORAL”.
I asked him what the hell that was (never having heard of such a thing), he explained to me that upon enlistment he was guaranteed that rank when he completed 18 months of service.
And to think after 2 tours and 36 months I was still just a Lance Corporal (and I wasn’t that much of a f#ckup), life sure got easier in the Corps after I was discharged.
Clovis C.C. Coffman AKA Buck Coffman was in the Army IOAC with me. Buck was a Force Recon legend. I saw 26 ribbons on Buck. He was the Marine I treasured/respected. Buck was a Force Recon Gunney legend before his direct commission.
A lot of the officers in the Marine Corps were purged under the Obama administration for refusing to accept the LGBTQI mandate.
Wishful thinking. The rot in the military started long before the village idiot from kenya.
“And people wonder if the military would fire on USA citizens...”
You’re a moron.
“Theres got to be some dirrty-dirt on this guy, yet to be fully reviewed by the public.”
I bet that there is kiddie porn somewhere on his computer.
Damn. SF NCOs? You were in SF in nam?
