Geez. I only asked out of respect for what my predecessors did. You were one of the guys that made my service easier, so i wish i could give you a hug. What Viet vets endured and especially those in SF cannot be repaid.
I have respect for you, too. The 82nd is a fine unit. I admired the men who spent almost the entire day doing unit tactical jumps while we in SF just got on the plane after the MACO briefing and we jumped. We were done in 1-2 hours max. I was MACO twice at Bragg for the JFK centers CG jump. I had it made with 5 of the best SGM’s in SF. They handled the details I was on. One always helped this CPT. in 69 to mid 70 at Bragg. We received letters of commendation for every assignment. Seems I was OIC of every detail to welcome Generals to Bragg. Had a CO who was a POW in Korea for 1,000 days, He let me the SGM’s plus himself discuss every mission we got. Whoever had the best idea we went with. He was quite a man.
