Charlotte was a great place to grow up in the 50s and 60s. Left there in 1968 and never came back except to see my mom. Ive got kin buried all over between Charlotte and Shelby.
Oh, I didn’t think you were mocking at all! Was just agreeing that the holier-than-thou types in Charlotte think those of us that live outside 485 are a different and inferior species sometimes.

Loved it as a young man...also a great place to return to as an ex-sailor in ‘75. But the city changed. One word as to why I’m still here...the wife. Almost escaped to SC recently (with the wife) but plans changed and now heading to the north of the state...I hope.
And people bemoan that the age of miracles has passed.
I just remember from high school...you didn’t go over to Gaston County and antagonize anybody. If the Gastonia police didn’t get you, the Gaston boys would.
I hope that attitude is still there if the BLM crowd decides to gather en masse over there and make a scene. Heck, it’s close enough for me to run over and help the Gaston boys out.
(Funny...I bought my first car from a lot on 74 in Gaston County. Tons of used car lots along that highway.)
Just wondering is this near I 85?
Yes. I-85 runs more or less parallel to Hwy 74 (Franklin Blvd...both East & West Franklin), which is the main drag thru Gastonia. 85 runs just along the north edge of town. Multiple cut-overs from 85 to Franklin St/downtown Gastonia.
(Hwy 74 is Wilkinson Blvd and Independence Blvd in Charlotte.)
I grew up outside of Gastonia myself.
Been decades since I really went through there.
Oh Boy,
“rolls eyes”
Was chocolate banned or something?
“Racism can be how you fail to look at me in my eyes, Robinson said.”
I cannot count the times when people of color have failed to look me in the eyes or even said a polite word of thank you at the end of a large transaction at the grocery store. I do make a point of thanking them for their help anyway. That’s probably racist too in their minds.
I like RockyRoad!
