Former congressman Ozzie Myers, caught in 1970s Abscam sting, has been indicted again — this time for election fraud

A former congressman convicted in the 1970s Abscam investigation was charged Thursday with new allegations that he bribed a poll worker to stuff ballot boxes in local elections.

Federal prosecutors alleged that U.S. Rep. Michael “Ozzie” Myers, now working as a campaign consultant, paid a South Philadelphia judge of elections to fraudulently add votes to candidates who had hired him to represent them in their races between 2014 and 2016 – a process he purportedly described as “ringing up votes.”

Give the old timer credit. Bribing an election judge is much more efficient than ballot harvesting.

I do. I believe it’s the last time the FBI ever did a serious investigation of Congress. After that they were no doubt told they’ll never try THAT again if they expect to keep getting funded.

John Murtha was one of the guys they caught. Did not go down like Ozzy for some reason. He would go on to remain a corrupt boil on the PA delegation for decades to come.

I remember it. John Murtha was my congressman at the time. He was titled as an undocumented co-conspirator, but due to one of the most ridiculously gerrymandered districts in the country, kept his seat until he died in 20101.
