WASHINGTON (ABC7) — Protesters marched to the D.C. home of Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell Wednesday afternoon, demanding an extension of pandemic unemployment benefits that may soon be reduced or expire.

Among the protesters were people left unemployed by COVID-19 who say a $600 a week unemployment benefit has helped them survive.

"Without the $600, we would be in dire straits," said protester LaMarr Houston of D.C., whose family includes seven children. "With the kids being home during the pandemic, it helps an awful lot, because there's always something needed, there's always something that has to be done."

In addition to protesting outside McConnell's home on Capitol Hill protesters brought in two trucks, one with an electronic billboard and another pulling a trailer with a band playing go-go music on it with a banner that says "Mitch Better Have My Money."

Protesters demand their $$$

Without those weekly checks they would have to go to work cutting down on their time to protest daily.

If they are so broke, how did they pay for the two trailers and the gear?

So they are protesting that they don’t want to work for $450/week but rather do nothing for $600/week?

RE:”Great title!”

Thanks!

I just came across it and figured it would resonate here.

It's the protesters, they made it up.

Yes, the protester demands money from the feds, but he no doubt wants to do away with the feds.

I live in KY and am very grateful that not only do I still have my fairly high paying job, but I’m allowed to work from home. This saves me a daily 3 our commute and over 600 after tax dollars per month in driving expenses.

Not all of my neighbors are as fortunate.

This lockdown is creating a financial storm we have not seen the likes of which in history. It’s gonna leave a mark. Just wait until just before the election, which will only be surpassed by what happens after and for the next decade.

Self inflicted.

This society is so ready for a civil war.

If police hadn’t killed Leroy in MN they’d be rioting over this.

All they need is an excuse.

I’ll bet most aren’t working for 450.00 a week..Most are just getting by and 600.00 a week was manna from heaven

Our $600 we give them on top of everything else they get.

And then when this runs out, then what? Another package? And another? And pretty soon, it is a universal basic income, given to everybody unless you make above $50K a year, and given above any welfare, food stamps, anything else.

Given on a permanent basis.

We are so screwed.

For those who didn’t know,
the headline is a take off on a ‘song’ by Rhihanna; 2015.

Don’t act like you forgot,

Yep. Although I think we are more likely to see the Troubles or the Intifada. Unless Democrats take over all three branches of government and insist Americans register their guns. Then it's all bets off.

"All they need is an excuse."

I agree. We've seen it many times in the past.

KT is where the couple voluntarily got tested for COVID(without symptoms), tested positive and resulted in the police putting them in house arrest with ankle tracking bracelets.

I wouldn't get tested unless I thought I was really sick.

Had my temp taken yesterday at the gym I go to as a condition for entry.

If you are hinting that Trump will get the blame for all these bad things this year, Carson on FNC last night spelled it out. Get ready for coming years of hell.
