The police were fired upon by Taylor's boyfriend. There should be no charges and no jury would convict the officers.

The delay is likely because the local authorities want to delay any rioting for as long as they can.

Right. But the boyfriend claims that the police came barging into the apartment without warning. The boyfriend says he thought it was a home invasion. And it turns out that the boyfriend had a valid gun permit. That doesn’t make him honest. But at least we know he’s not a convicted felon.

That makes sense. Delay releasing the report until a cold month. Good strategy, but very unfair to Taylor’s family.

Permit me to add one more thing about Taylor’s boyfriend. I tend to believe his assertion that the police did not first announce themselves. So he thought it was a home invasion.

He had a valid gun permit. So it’s a good guess that he had a clean record. And no drugs were found in the apartment. So the boyfriend had no reason to fear a police search.

Why would such a person decide to get into a wild shoot-out with the police? His actions only make sense if the cops didn’t announce themselves properly, and so he thought it was a home invasion.
