The 21st Space Wing (21 SW) was the United States Space Force's ground–based missile warning and space control wing. The 21st Space Wing was assigned to Space Operations Command and headquartered at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado.

The 21st Space Wing controlled Peterson Air Force Base, Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station, Thule Air Base, Clear Air Force Station, Cape Cod Air Force Station, and Cavalier Air Force Station.

It was activated as a space wing on 15 May 1992, replacing the 1st Space Wing and 3rd Space Support Wing. The 21st Space Wing was inactivated on 24 July 2020 and replaced by the Peterson–Schriever Garrison.

Peterson-Schriever Garrison is headquartered at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado. The garrison’s mission is to enable USSF and partner mission execution of seven functional space deltas and more than 80 mission partners across 22 world-wide locations through the provision of integrated USSF and United States Air Force Base Operating Support (e.g., directly assisting, maintaining, supplying, and distributing support of forces at the operating location), Combat Service Support (e.g., the essential capabilities, functions, activities, and tasks necessary to sustain all elements of all operating forces at the operating location), and Garrison Support Agency services.

The U.S. Space Force activated two garrisons during a pre-recorded virtual ceremony. During the ceremony, the Peterson-Schriever Garrison and Buckley Garrison installation support commands stood-up as the 21st, 50th, and 460th Space Wings were deactivated.

Col. James Smith, former 50th SW commander, assumed command of Peterson-Schriever Garrison, and Col. Devin Pepper, former 460th SW commander, assumed command of the Buckley Garrison.

“Today we take action, an important and significant step, towards the development of a 21st century service purpose-built to achieve speed, agility and unity of effort,” said Chief of Space Operations Gen. John “Jay” Raymond in the video. “This ceremony highlights the most significant restructure of space units since the establishment of the Air Force Space Command in 1982.”

Trusting God in Times of Sorrow

Bible in a Year:

I know whom I have believed.

2 Timothy 1:12 When a man known as “Papa John” learned he had terminal cancer, he and his wife, Carol, sensed God calling them to share their illness journey online. Believing that God would minister through their vulnerability, they posted their moments of joy and their sorrow and pain for two years.

When Carol wrote that her husband “went into the outstretched arms of Jesus,” hundreds of people responded, with many thanking Carol for their openness. One person remarked that hearing about dying from a Christian point of view was healthy, for “we all have to die” someday. Another said that although she’d never met the couple personally, she couldn’t express how much encouragement she’d received through their witness of trusting God.

Although Papa John sometimes felt excruciating pain, he and Carol shared their story so they could demonstrate how God upheld them. They knew their testimony would bear fruit for God, echoing what Paul wrote to Timothy when he suffered: “I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day” (2 Timothy 1:12).

God can use even the death of a loved one to strengthen our faith in Him (and the faith of others) through the grace we receive in Christ Jesus (v. 9). If you’re experiencing anguish and difficulty, know that He can bring comfort and peace.

By:  Amy Boucher Pye Reflect & Pray

How have you experienced God’s joy even in times of deep sorrow? How do you explain this? How could you share what you learned with others?

Heavenly Father, fan into flame the gift of faith in me, that I might share with love and power my testimony of how You work in my life.

Good evening, radu...any relief from the heat? Will the rain find you?

Today has gotten sunnier and sunnier and pushing 70.

Today’s errors were less than a dozen, and all mine, of course, but so MANY LESS than the last 3 weeks. All have to do with the new company. BUT...progress, and I’m off to check for more issues.

Howdy, Kathy.

Less than a dozen errors? That’s a huge improvement! Don’t look too hard for more issues! LOL

Still a sauna during the day here. Once again, there was rain in the mountains close by but nothing here. The radar looks promising for tomorrow though. We just hope it holds up and gives us a good dose of rain.
